HIBERNIA

Our Autumn ‘23 trip to Ireland was particularly special as we got to travel together through our home country and make work in some of the most beautiful places on earth. Our HIBERNIA series features paintings made in Altar in West Cork, Derryclare Lake in the Inagh Valley and Glassilaun Beach on Connemara’s vibrant shores.

Each piece is one-of-a-kind and is a direct result of the solar conditions of the place on the day it was created. The water that we used in our cyanotype mix at each location, was an essential element in the final works. The clear saltwater at Altar and Glassilaun gave us fresh aquatic blues and deep underwater hues that mimic the coast. The water in Derryclare Lough was rich in minerals and played havoc with our cyano mix; its blue green hues burst on the page complimenting the rich overexposed orange oxide.
