FLOW SETS
Oak Black, River Water & Acacia Resin on Yupo Substrate
148.5 x 105mm x 9pieces
Original, unframed work
Made with oak black, a pigment I process and hand-grind myself. Each piece is a single, unrepeatable record of a water event: pigment carried by water collected at a meeting point of two waterbodies (fresh and salt) settling according to its own logic as the water stills.
The pigment is created from oak branches, transformed in extreme heat, then carried by water before finally settling. These works are indexical. They capture water in its perpetually changing states: absorbing, refracting, reflecting, drenching, flooding, flowing. Waterbodies appear here as mineral, pigment, river water, liminal water where salt meets fresh, bone and resin.
What remains is the trace of a movement that happened only once.
