Cyanotype and rainwater on paper 2020.
17.5 x 24.5cm

These works were created during a rain shower on the grounds of Killyon Manor, in Westmeath. I wanted to capture images of nature as a took a walk alng the river bank and through the orchard.

Each cyanotype was created using a mixture of ferric ammonium citrate and potassium ferricyanide. When mixed these chemicals become light sensitive. The works were exposed to UV rays, and where the UV reacted to the chemicals, the image turned blue. As the chemical reaction was occuring there was a rainstorm which added a further dimension to the elemental interaction of the works.

You are advised to hang this piece away from direct sunlight. Please note due to the works being soaked in rainwater and riverwater, there is some staining on the paper borders.
