Lake Pigment Extraction & Modifiers Worksop 14th August

A$40.00

Exploring Modifiers and Lake Pigment Extraction Method
2-hour online-workshop.
Saturday 14th August 2021
1 PM - 3PM

This online workshop is an exploration of both ink and pigment harnessed from the landscape. This workshop will show you the methods and tools you need to take your colour-making to the next level. The session will focus on the Lake Extraction Method - turning ink into pigment. I will delve into the chemical and mineralogical reactions that occur when different minerals intertwine.  We will dig deep into modifiers; tweaking ph levels and adding oxides to create a spectrum of hues.

  • Easy to find tools and materials required for bio colour making.

  • Best practices for foraging and working with the seasons.

  • Overview of Ink-making process

  • Exploration of Lake Pigment Extraction

  • Tweaking Ph Levels

  • Oxides, modifiers and safety measures.

  • How to track your recipes and experiments.

Each participant will be given a recipe worksheet after the workshop to support their bio colour experiments. No tools are required. No previous experience is required, however, basic knowledge of ink-making is suggested. Details of the online workshop platform will be emailed to each participant ahead of the workshop.
